On the radiant morning of Pascha, the faithful of Holy Resurrection Serbian Orthodox Cathedral in Chicago gathered in great numbers to celebrate the Glorious Resurrection of our Lord and the Slava of our Cathedral, which bears the name of Christ’s Holy Resurrection.
His Grace Bishop Serafim graciously presided over the Paschal Divine Liturgy, bringing spiritual joy and warmth to all present. The church resounded with the triumphant hymn: “Christ is Risen from the dead, trampling down death by death!”—a powerful reminder of the victory of life over death.
As part of the Cathedral’s Slava celebration, His Grace blessed the Slava bread at the conclusion of the Divine Liturgy, in front of the icon of the Resurrection. This moving act honored the feast day and underscored the deep liturgical and spiritual identity of our Cathedral.
The beauty of the service was elevated by the voices of our Cathedral Choir and the active participation of the faithful, many of whom came early and received Holy Communion on this most sacred of days.
Following the Divine Liturgy, the celebration continued with the traditional Easter Slava Banquet. His Grace Bishop Serafim remained with the community, offering words of encouragement and joy, and personally greeting many of the faithful. The banquet hall was filled with warmth, fellowship, and the hospitality that defines our parish life.
We extend our heartfelt thanks to all who made this celebration so memorable—our clergy, choir, volunteers, cooks, and every parishioner whose love and service enriches our community.
May the Risen Christ bless you with peace and joy in the light of His Resurrection.
Christ is Risen! Indeed He is Risen!
