In accordance with the decision of the Holy Hierarchical Assembly of the Serbian Orthodox Church, we hereby announce a change in the title of our diocesan hierarch, effective immediately.
Title Change:
His Eminence Archbishop of New Gracanica – Chicago and Metropolitan of Midwestern America
Implementation Guidelines:
- Church Services: During Church services, His Eminence is to be commemorated as “His Eminence our Bishop (or Hierarch) Longin.”
- Many Years [Mnogoletstvije] Commemoration: During “many years” celebrations, His Eminence is to be commemorated as “To His Eminence, most reverend Longin, by the grace of God, Archbishop of New Gracanica – Chicago and Metropolitan of Midwestern America.”
- Official Correspondence: In official correspondence such as decisions, records, and official acts, the complete title “Archbishop of New Gracanica – Chicago and Metropolitan of Midwestern America” is to be used.
- Colloquial and Media Use: In informal and media contexts, the shorter variant “Metropolitan of Midwestern America” should be used.
This change is in accordance with Articles 14 and 15 of the Constitution of the Serbian Orthodox Church and has been forwarded for your knowledge and appropriate action.
