Texas Orthodox High School Youth Retreat

Texas Orthodox High School Youth Retreat

With great joy, the Youth Department of the Midwest Diocese of the Serbian Orthodox Church announces the first-ever Orthodox youth retreat in Texas!

With the blessing of His Eminence Metropolitan Longin, and with the support of Fr. Dejan Tiosavljevic, this special event will take place at Saint Sava Serbian Orthodox Church in Houston, TX, from November 14–16, 2025.

This retreat is designed specifically for high school students to come together in fellowship, growing in faith and love. Activities will include:

Lessons on the history of the Serbian Orthodox Church, singing basic hymns in the choir, and what it means when “Jesus said to His disciples, “If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow Me.“ (Matthew 16:24, OSB) Our purpose is to create community amongst the Serbian Orthodox youth in America, where they can share a life long journey with Christ.

Our goal is to foster a lifelong connection with Christ and His Church among our youth. Through confession, Holy Communion, and faith-based discussions, clergy will guide students in addressing the daily spiritual challenges they face in today’s world.

Logistics & Accommodations
All students will sleep in the church hall — boys on one side, girls on the other.
Please bring:

* A sleeping bag or bedding
* A blow-up mattress (if desired)
* A pillow

Tent camping will be available for volunteers who wish to enjoy an outdoor experience. Additionally, there will be one RV on site for male volunteers who will assist with groundskeeping and BBQ.

Students: If you need a mattress or plan to attend only during the day, please indicate this on your registration.
Parents and Volunteers: Let us know if you plan to stay on-site.

We encourage all Orthodox high school students to mark their calendars and join us for this exciting retreat!
We also welcome volunteers to sign up and help make this event a success.
