In the radiant light of Pascha, the faithful of Holy Resurrection Serbian Orthodox Cathedral gathered in great numbers to celebrate the Resurrection of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. This year’s Midnight Easter Matins and Divine Liturgy were marked by profound beauty, joy, and renewal.
The service began in solemn anticipation with a candlelit procession led by the clergy, joined by the faithful as they circled the church three times in remembrance of the Myrrh-bearing women’s journey to the tomb. At the conclusion of the procession, we gathered before the closed doors of the Cathedral. It was there, in the stillness of the night, that the glorious proclamation of Christ’s victory over death resounded: “Let God arise, and let His enemies be scattered!”
The Matins of the Resurrection and Divine Liturgy that followed were nothing short of uplifting. The church was filled with light, song, and the joy of the Risen Christ. Our Cathedral Choir, under the direction of Jelena Stojakovic, offered a beautiful and moving contribution through their heartfelt singing of the Paschal hymns. We extend our deepest gratitude to each member for their dedication and talent.
This Easter was especially meaningful as it marked the first Pascha celebrated with our newly installed wooden pews, the restoration of our original terrazzo floors, and the renovated choir loft, now enhanced with a new design and elegant wood flooring. These improvements have beautified our sacred space and enhanced our worship experience.
We give thanks to all of our generous donors who made these restorations possible and continue to support our Cathedral community throughout the years. Your stewardship and faith ensure that our church remains not only a place of worship, but also a spiritual home for generations to come.
Christ is Risen! Indeed He is Risen!
