On Wednesday, January 12, 2025, the faithful of the Diocese gathered at Holy Resurrection Serbian Orthodox Cathedral to celebrate the Feast of the Three Holy Hierarchs. This feast honors St. Basil the Great, St. Gregory the Theologian, and St. John Chrysostom, whose teachings continue to shape the Orthodox Church’s spiritual and theological life.
This year’s celebration held even greater significance as we also marked the 50th anniversary of His Eminence Metropolitan Longin’s ordination to the priesthood and monastic tonsure. A milestone that speaks to five decades of unwavering service to God, His Holy Church, and the faithful, this occasion was a reflection of His Eminence’s dedication, leadership, and love for the Orthodox Christian faith.
The Divine Hierarchical Liturgy, celebrated by His Eminence Metropolitan Longin, His Grace Bishop Seraphim, and His Grace Bishop Sava, was a beautiful and prayer-filled service, attended by the Diocesan clergy, St. Sava Academy students, and parishioners. The St. Sava Academy students added to the solemnity of the occasion with their voices, singing the responses and enhancing the reverence of the Liturgy.
Following the service, Bishop Seraphim offered heartfelt congratulations to Metropolitan Longin on this remarkable 50-year milestone. In turn, His Eminence expressed his gratitude for the kindness, prayers, and attendance of all those present, acknowledging the continued support of the faithful throughout his ministry.
This celebration was a moment for all of us to come together as a Church family, to give thanks to God for the guidance and wisdom of our beloved Metropolitan Longin, and to honor the profound impact he has had on our lives.
May God continue to bless Metropolitan Longin with many more years of faithful service, good health, and spiritual strength.
