His Holiness Patriarch PORFIRIJE to Visit Chicago Area: Visit to begin at Chicago Cathedral

His Holiness the Archbishop of Pec, Metropolitan of Belgrade-Karlovci, and Serbian Patriarch + PORFIRIJE, will be formally welcomed at Holy Resurrection Serbian Orthodox Cathedral in Chicago, Illinois, with a Service of Doxology on Tuesday, October 12, 2021 at 7:00 PM (time may vary due to flight arrival time), as he begins his Patriarchal Visit to the United States.  His Holiness will also celebrate Divine Liturgy at our Cathedral on Saturday, October 16, at 9:30 AM, which will be followed by a festive banquet for Centennial Celebration of the American-Canadian Diocese of the Serbian Orthodox Church. 

His Holiness Patriarch +PORFIRIJE is the 46th in line on the Blessed Throne of Serbian Patriarchs, and 55th successor of St. Sava as head of the Holy Serbian Church.  On February 18th, 2021, he was elected by the Holy Assembly of Bishops of the Serbian Orthodox Church to succeed His Holiness Patriarch +IRINEJ of the Blessed Memory.
